What is Social Emotional Learning?
Social emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which individuals learn and apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, build relationships, and make responsible decisions. SEL is important for everyone, regardless of age, race, gender, or socioeconomic status. There are five core components of SEL: 1. Self-awareness: The ability to recognize one's own emotions, thoughts, and values. 2. Self-management : The ability to regulate one's emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in a way that is helpful and productive. 3.
